Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kütahya Dumlupınar University was established within the Faculty of Engineering in accordance with Article 23/c added to Law No. 2809 by Law No. 3837 dated July 3, 1992.

Undergraduate education in the department began in the 1993–1994 academic year in a building formerly belonging to the Kütahya Nitrogen Factory. Following the completion of the Faculty of Engineering building on the university campus, educational activities were relocated to the current premises, where they continue today. The department graduated its first cohort at the end of the 1997–1998 academic year.

The Master’s program was launched in the 1993–1994 academic year, and the Ph.D. program was established in 2009. Since then, graduate education and research activities have been successfully maintained.

Our department aims to educate innovative and productive engineers equipped with the knowledge and skills required by contemporary engineering practice. Our academic staff actively conduct undergraduate and graduate education, research, and community engagement activities.

Furthermore, we maintain strong ties between our faculty members, current students, and alumni. Sustaining communication with our graduates, supporting their professional development, and strengthening their sense of belonging to the department are of great importance to us.
