DPU Mechanical Engineering Department started to provide undergraduate education in 1993-1994 academic year. In the beginning there were only a number of academic members in the department, now there are 1 professor, 5 associate professors, 7 assistant professors enrolled in mechanical engineering department. In our department, there is 1 administrative staff in secretariat and there is 1 technical staff in machine workshop. At the 4-year undergraduate level of our department, both daytime and evening education are provided and the student quota is 160 students, 80 of which are in the daytime education and 80 are in the evening education.

In the first year, basic courses are taught, vocational courses are offered in the second and third years, and elective courses are taught in addition to vocational courses in the fourth year. In undergraduate education, our students are given professional knowledge at contemporary level and this information is supported by laboratory, project and graduation thesis, and research and application skills of students are developed.

The graduate program started in 1993-1994 academic year and the PhD program started in 2009. There are graduate and doctoral students who continue their studies in the course and thesis phase.
